8am- shakeout run around the mall, rip hayward

3pm- 4A State Championships 2017

this morning felt a little nervous but as soon as we arrived at the course I was just excited. The weather was basically perfect. I jogged around a little to check out the course a little. chilled with paul. we went for a warmup at like 220 then threw our spikes on and headed to the start.

I got out hard for 7 seconds then settled into it. the guys stayed close and we got in a nice pack with josh bryson and a couple other guys. took the hill pretty calm and me and carson went and passed some guys on the top. Julien came up with us, still right together down around the pond and keeping a good pace. On the hill we were right where we needed to be but me and Carson fell back from that pack and julien stuck with it. the last mile was kind of a blur. we kept our position. carson moved up a bit. I held off Ethan and caught Bryson in the last 100m.

when I finished I saw 3 stansbury in front of me and 2 right behind and I knew it wouldnt be enough but nathan and spencer ran good enough to secure our 3rd 2nd place finish in a row. better than 3rd at region lol. Im proud of how we ran but I know we could have won. I was feeling good with it but after I got academic all state I looked at coach and just felt sick. 2nd sucks. we did good but really not much people will know how badly I wanted us to win. its fine though this journeys been legit. to all the people who have been involved Im thankful to everyone, especially my coaches. Cant wait for Nike though thats going to be fun.

Thanks for all you’ve done, Desert Chiva. You leave PVXC a better program.

Simply seconds either way. As your region meet shows, any different day can do it. I'd honestly say that between Stansbury, Pineview, Desert Hills and Ogden and even Hurricane any one of those teams could be first.

The race could be run tomorrow and Pineview would win. It's a good lesson for life knowing that seconds is the only difference, one can take that either way. The difference between winning and losing is so small, so one shouldn't berate oneself too much.

You ran well and smart. Do the same at Nike and just enjoy the journey.
