10pm- Herriman Twilight Invite- 3200m

We showed up to Herriman at like 345 or so and I ran at 10 so I had alot of time to sit around and chill. We saw the giant dumptruck that fell down the mountain and that was cool. I forgot my running shoes so I found my dad and he offered to let me use his so that was good. The whole time that I was just chilling at the meet I was stretching and drinking water and doing yoga and I even drained my legs. I felt pretty prepared. Me and Dallen warmed up together. When we went over to sign in the guy seemed pretty desperate to combine the heats so we hurried and grabbed our spikes and laced up. Then he decided they would do 2 heats so we left. They had the first heat on the track but then they changed there minds once again to combine them so we ran  over again and the guy is acting annoyed that we didnt have our spikes on. But its whatever that guy was dumb. I didnt even have time to change into my racing socks

I barely got like one strider in and then we started. Some of the guys were talking after about how packed it was but I couldnt tell cuz I was out in front :). I led for the first 2 laps about and Preston and Dallen were right with me switching leads. The first mile felt good but turns out it was pretty slow and so I was under pressure now to keep the pace. I was sticking right behind Preston trying to get in a rythm and work with him but these two guys boxed me in and pushed me out of my spot. Lap 6 was slow and I was falling off the top group. I was watching the clock and I could tell I needed to make a major push but my mental game was not there. As a result I fell even further back. The last two laps sucked bad. I was not where I needed to be and I was just trying to hang on. The clock was at like 902 coming into the last lap and I didnt want to push myself. I knew I already blew it and I was like whats the point. Dallen passed me and I went with him and in the last 50 I thought I might as well beat Dallen so I sprinted past him for 5th place.

I was disapointed but I didnt straight up suck. It was an overall slow race for everybody. The lights shut off and that was freakin epic. I was expecting to be in the 4x400 but turns out coach took me out of that and I was bh so I went and ran some allout sprints through some sprinklers by the baseball fields. Then I cooled down with Cam and Nick and Jake. Pretty cool meet.Cool shirt that i got. I hope to go to BYU next year though
